Baroque Music Workshop

September 24-26, 2021

Immerse yourself in three days of music-making under the direction of world-renowned baroque harpsichordist, director and composer Marco Vitale.

The Salt Spring Island 3-day Baroque Music Workshop is for singers and instrumentalists who are interested in learning about historically informed performance practice.  All students, amateurs, semi-professional and professional musicians who sing or play at an accomplished level are welcome. The workshop will provide a casual, friendly, and supportive atmosphere in which participants can learn about baroque style.  The  participants will study two works by Handel:  Utrecht Te Deum, the first part of Handel’s sacred choral composition Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate (1714), and his Concerto Grosso No. 3 Op. 3, one of a set of six Concerti Grossi compiled in 1734.  There will also be opportunities to be coached on chamber music by the three world-class tutors.  The workshop will include a concert by the instructors in their ensemble Contrasto Armonico, and the workshop will conclude with an informal concert.

Please browse the workshop site for more information.  Register to attend the final student concert below:
