Baroque Music Workshop

Immerse yourself in three days of music-making under the direction of world-renowned baroque harpsichordist and composer Marco Vitale.

The Salt Spring Island 3-day Baroque Music Workshop is for singers and instrumentalists who are interested in learning about historically informed performance practice.  All students, amateurs, semi-professional and professional musicians who sing or play at an accomplished level are welcome. The workshop will provide a casual, friendly, and supportive atmosphere in which participants can learn about baroque style.  The  participants will study two works by Handel:  Utrecht Te Deum, the first part of Handel’s sacred choral composition Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate (1714), and his Concerto Grosso No. 3 Op. 3, one of a set of six Concerti Grossi compiled in 1734.  There will also be opportunities to be coached on chamber music by the three world-class tutors.  The workshop will include a concert by the instructors in their ensemble Contrasto Armonico, and the workshop will conclude with an informal concert.  Please browse the site for more details.
